A sticker is a transparent PNG with a subject and nothing else. That is the whole format: the messaging app supplies the chat bubble behind it, so anything left of the original background shows up as a rectangle floating in the conversation. What makes a good sticker is a subject that reads at thumbnail size. Stickers are displayed small, so a face, a pet or a single object works, and a wide group shot becomes an unrecognisable smudge. Crop tight before cutting if the subject is small in the frame. Each messaging app then has its own pack rules — pixel size, file size and how many stickers a pack must contain. This produces the transparent image; the pack is assembled in the app or its sticker maker.
Each app publishes its own requirement, usually a square a few hundred pixels wide with a file-size cap. Resize the PNG afterwards to match the app you are targeting.
It was saved as JPG somewhere along the way. JPG cannot store transparency; keep the file as PNG all the way into the sticker app.
