2560×1440, usually called QHD or 1440p, sits between Full HD and 4K and has become the sweet spot for gaming monitors and larger laptop panels: noticeably sharper than 1080p without the file sizes and rendering cost of 4K. It is the natural wallpaper size for those displays, and a common target for video-platform channel art and stream overlays. Like every 16:9 size, the shape is the thing to plan for — a portrait photo will lose a lot of its top and bottom in fill mode, so consider fit with a background colour that matches your desktop theme. Downscaling from a 4K original to 1440p is a clean operation and generally produces a sharper wallpaper than upscaling a 1080p one.
